FWLD is seeking an experienced consultant/expert to conduct a “Study on Discriminatory Laws Against Women, Sexual and Gender Minorities, Religious Minorities and Persons with Disabilities and Special Measures for Them and Their Impacts”. The primary objective of the study is to assess legal frameworks and policies in Nepal that discriminate against these groups based on their gender, religion, or disability. Additionally, it will examine special measures and its impacts implemented to address these disparities. The findings will serve as a foundation for evidence-based advocacy at reforming laws that disadvantage or restrict the rights of women, persons without disabilities, sexual and gender minorities, and religious minorities in Nepal, with a focus on advancing gender equality and safeguarding rights of women, sexual and gender minorities, religious minorities and persons with disabilities.
Scope of Work:
- Conduct a comprehensive study on discriminatory laws against women, sexual and gender minorities, religious minorities and persons with disabilities and special measures for them and their impacts in Nepal.
- Collect data through desk research, interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs).
- Review relevant laws, policies, and legal frameworks, and assess the effectiveness of measures aimed at reducing gender disparities.
- Produce a detailed report including findings, analysis, and recommendations to support evidence-based advocacy.
Educational Qualification and experience:
- Master’s degree in law, gender studies, public policy, or other related fields.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in conducting research, policy review, and gender analysis.
- Strong understanding of national and international frameworks on women’s rights.
- Proficiency in both English and Nepali, with excellent writing skills.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to present complex data and ideas clearly.
