FWLD had prepared a Report on ‘Legal Analysis of Citizenship Law of Nepal’ where the current citizenship Act has been comparatively analysed with the Constitution, Precedents, International Human Rights obligations and Best practices of other countries. The Report was launched by the Deputy Prime Minsiter and Minister of Home Affairs, Hon’ble Mr. Bimalendra Nidhi. During the launch the Deputy Prime Minister spoke of the need to incorporate the changes made by the constitution in the current Act, and also reasserted the importance of the right to citizenship.

The Report has made specific suggestions on the changes to be made in the current Act. It has also laid down the laws of other countries that have made changes to their citizenship laws to make them equal for men and women.
